Farmers Markets

The official arrival of Spring, even if the weather isn’t acknowledging it, has me excited about local farmers markets and gardening. Lancaster County, home to Amish and Mennonites, is the perfect location to discover farm-fresh produce, beautiful flowers, and handcrafted items. Whether you enjoy buying seeds/plants to grow your own garden, or you prefer to let the farmers do the work for you, Lancaster County Pennsylvania is a hot-spot for farmers markets. Soon the fear of frost will have passed and flowers will start to bloom. Spring is an exciting time for a Lancaster Pennsylvania bed and breakfast because of their colorful gardens that guests can enjoy and the many PA Farmers Markets in the area.

The Lancaster Central Market has been in downtown Lancaster City since the 1730s. Many different stands offer locally grown foods, desserts and breads, flowers, and meats and cheeses. I distinctly remember tasting chevre goat cheese for the very first time here and buying fresh cut flowers for myself just because they were so beautiful! This Lancaster market is open Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Green Dragon Farmers Market and Auction , in Ephrata, is a gem that needs to be experienced. Only open on Fridays, you can wander around and discover tons of bargains and every type of collectible and food that you could ever imagine. This place is a treat that you do not want to miss!

The Village Farm Market, also in Ephrata, specializes in homemade baked goods. Open everyday but Sundays, they bake daily to offer fresh breads. Seasonal items and produce are also available.

For even more farmers markets in Lancaster County Pennsylvania, ask your innkeepers at the Amethyst Inn, or search for the Columbia Market, Bird-in-Hand Farmers Market, or the Fairgrounds Farmers Market.

Stoudt’s Wonderful Good Market and Farmer’s Co-op is right down the road from Adamstown Inns & Cottages. In addition to offering breads, cheeses, produce, and flowers, they also sell Stoudt’s Black Angus Steaks. I’m sure it’s obvious by now that The Amethyst Inn should be your number one choice for lodging in Adamstown PA, not just because of the luxury and hospitality that you will experience, but also because of the convenient location to the many farmers markets in Lancaster.
