Autumn in Lancaster County

Now that the brisk weather has taken our mornings and evenings, it’s time to officially celebrate Autumn and the Halloween Season. Lancaster County has hauntingly fun activities for kids of every age, including adults. Whether your family prefers the spooky side of Halloween, or the pumpkin patch tour with hot apple cider, you’ll be able to plan a family vacation that pleases everyone! The entire family will be spoiled when you choose to stay at the Adamstown Inns & Cottages. The vacation homes have all the amenities that you could ever imagine in your home away from home. So pack your bags for a trip to Lancaster Pennsylvania and discover history, local apples, corn mazes, and Oktoberfest.

Get ready for your first Ghost and Graveyard tour in 21st century style, on a segway! Red Rose Segway offers a 90 minute tour through Lancaster’s past and present, with eerie stories of historical figures. If you’re nervous about riding on a segway, don’t worry because the tour begins with a lesson!

If you’d rather walk, then you would enjoy a corn maze at Cherry Crest Adventure Farm. In addition to their Harvest Festival on Saturdays, they open their corn maze in the evenings to explore in total darkness. Of course they sell glow sticks and you’re welcome to bring a flashlight so you don’t get lost! During the festival they also offer hayrides, a bonfire, face painting, and a pumpkin patch. I could continue on about the Fall Family Fun Days at Weaver’s Orchard in Berks County , Glo Golf at the Village Greens in Strasburg, at Dutch Wonderland, and a Pumpkin & Spice Tasting Event at the Intercourse Canning Company , but I’ll let you explore those ideas as you finalize your travel plans!

Lastly, for the adults, Oktoberfest is in full swing at Stoudt’s Gemutlichkeit Bier Garden, conveniently up the road from the Amethyst Inn. With German music, food, and microbrews, it’s no surprise you’re now contemplating leaving the kids at grandma’s for the weekend! On October 15th and 16th, the festival lasts all weekend, but normally it’s just on Sunday afternoons. Whether you decide to have a romantic weekend with your significant other, or choose to bring the family, even grandma!, the Adamstown Inns & Cottages has the perfect accommodations for you.
