Berks County: Part 2

Berks county continues to entertain throughout the month of June. From farmers markets and art festivals to secret tours and car shows, you’ll struggle to fit everything into your schedule and have time to relax. Choose between a family vacation with your dog, or a romantic getaway with your spouse. The gourmet breakfast, attention to detail, and amenities at Adamstown Inns & Cottages will ensure you have a relaxing vacation!

If you’re overwhelmed with the abundance of activities in Reading Pa, then I suggest starting with the Best Kept Secrets Tour. This adventure (set up like a home and garden tour) has planned  visits to 35 unique locations. You’ll get to experience a little bit of everything without the hassle of researching each place, and you will receive special deals and treats. The actual businesses remain a secret until you purchase your tickets ($7), but some of the places you’ll visit include log cabins, bonsai gardens, art galleries, dairy farms, and sweet treats. Once you purchase tickets, you’ll be given information for all the businesses, and can visit as many as you can in a couple days, or a week.

The Centre Park Historic District has planned their Gourmet Garden Tour for Friday evening June 22. This self guided tour takes you around luxurious gardens of the historic district. Each garden is paired with a food and beverage, as well as live music.

For adventures all in one place, check out the following:

Spend a Sunday morning moseying around the West Reading Farmers Market. Many of the vendors are local and produce organic items. Fruits and vegetables are quickly coming into season, so you won’t want to miss out! Some of the stands include: goat cheese, specialty coffees, produce, poultry, breads, flowers, and baked goods.

Penn Corridor is hosting their 18th Annual Arts on the Avenue on June 16th. From 11am to 6pm, travel down Penn Avenue and visit with crafters and artists. There will be food, music, and entertainment as well.

The Hay Creek Valley Historical Association is planning a Car Cruise and Antique Car Show for Saturday June 16th. In addition to displaying these antiques, they will do a hill climb, fashion show, and have a seminar on Automotive Differential. Plan to spend the whole day there, as they’ll be serving both breakfast and lunch.

And if you can’t fit all these activities into one stay, we’re not opposed to you visiting again!
