Located two miles from the Amethyst Inn Bed & Breakfast you will discover the Black Horse Restaurant. Known for their fresh, local American cuisine, they are constantly changing the menu and providing a unique and tasteful dining experience.
Our first course was the roasted sweet corn & lobster risotto, mushrooms, & pea shoots, and let me tell you it was fabulous. We both agreed we could skip the rest of the meal and order another dish of the risotto, but we were looking forward to the rest.
For the second course we each decided on a salad. Suzanne ordered a field green salad and added some grilled chicken, which she thought was juicy and seasoned just right . I ordered the warm roasted beets & goat cheese salad with a side of grilled asparagus, thyme, and olive oil. It was so good, I loved the combination of the beets and goat cheese and the asparagus had a wonderful taste and were nice and crispy.
This has always been a favorite of ours and after this past meal will continue to be for a long time. So, if you are venturing into northern Lancaster County, come stay with us at the Adamstown Inns & Cottages and we will hook you up with a free appetizer or dessert coupon so you can enjoy one of our favorite Lancaster restaurants.

Last week Tom and I spent a wonderful afternoon with several innkeepers from the Authentic Bed and Breakfast Association touring a few of Lancaster County's hidden gems. One of my favorites was In Grandma's Attic located at 3545 Lincoln Highway (Rt. 30) Kinzers, PA. 717-442-4337. They are open Monday - Wednesday 9:00-5:00 and Friday and Saturday 9:00-5:00.
I particularly liked the slices of watermelon made from hunks of tree.....including the bark.
They showcase many different craftsmen including one who specializes in uses for odds and end of dishes and glassware and one who utilizes old windows and shutters.
I would definitely add In Grandma's Attic to your list of must stops while touring Lancaster County. This summer we will be showcasing several hidden gems for you to explore while staying at your favorite bed and breakfast -Amethyst Inn
